Our Bow branch is closing

Dec 17, 2019

The Roman Road branch of London Community Credit Union will close permanently at the end of opening on Tuesday, 31st December.

All other branches of London Community Credit Union will remain open as usual, offering full access to credit union services six days a week.

Why are we closing Roman Road?

We have taken the decision to close our Roman Road branch reluctantly and only after careful consideration.

The closure reflects the following:

  • A sizeable drop in the number of people visiting the branch over the last 12 months.
  • The fact that a large number of members in the Bow area now regularly use the branches in Bethnal Green and Poplar.
  • The significant costs associated with maintaining an old building.

Any cost savings from the closure of the Roman Road branch will be reinvested to improve other areas of the credit union.

What are the alternative branches?

Our branches in Bethnal Green and Poplar are respectively 1.3 and 1.8 miles from Roman Road, Bow. Both are easily accessible by public transport.

LCCU members can access the full range of services at any branch including Hackney and Stratford.

Information including maps and details of local transport can be found by visiting the branch pages or a map of all branches can be viewed on our contact us page.

Credit union accounts can also be managed via online banking for which you can register online or telephone banking for which you may request an access code.

If you are concerned about the closure or think it will prevent you from accessing credit union services please contact us to discuss alternatives.
